Ofcom to cease 0500 numbers!

Here's what we propose you do for yourself or your clients.

Following Ofcom's recent announcement that it will be turning off all remaining 0500 numbers in the UK, we're urging everyone to review and update their numbering strategy now.

PLEASE NOTE: Unlike previous Ofcom changes 0500 numbers will simply be switched off and any calls to them after that date will be lost. So as to safeguard your business against possible missed sales and support calls, we're advising you to address this now.

Although the termination is three years away, your calls are critical to your business, and we know from experience that legacy numbers can take years to drop out of circulation.  The most important thing to do is act now, from experience the latent advertising  of 0500 numbers could last for a couple of years.

By bringing online a new number now will allow businesses to run both the 0500 and any new numbers simultaneously, then some months before the switch off add a message to the 0500 number telling callers to call the new number, working this way business will avoid any potential loss of business.

For businesses that wish to retain a number as close as the 0500 can apply for the equivalent 08085 xxx xxx:  e.g. 0500 28 28 20 would become 08085 282820.

Creative Telecoms has a number of strategies to suit all businesses so please call 0800 019 1117 or email and let Creative Telecoms make the transition run smoothly.
